Home inspection is a competitive field today. When you are preparing to launch your home inspection business you have to get your name out there for home buyers and realtors to see. Fortunately, getting your new home inspected is mandated by lenders, so you know your service is in demand; it’s just a matter of getting exposure.

The best groups to market to are the realtors and insurance agencies. They are the ones most likely to recommend you to someone in need of your services. Have business cards or post cards made up and send them out or drop them off at all of your local real estate companies. This is all about the networking. A personal visit, especially to smaller firms, will put a face to your name and gain trust. You can also offer an exchange of recommendations. Take down their information and link them to your personal website or recommend them if you are called to inspect a house that is about to go on the market.

Website Magazine. A high-information resource that is printed and mailed. A neat, neat magazine. What you'll find more interesting, it's free. That's right. Because the magazine is financially supported by advertisers, the publisher doesn't charge a fee for the publication.

Networking is something you can do online as well. Search the Internet for real estate sites and home inspection sites to see where you can place free profiles. Any profile that you put up is one more place someone might find you and one more location that you can link to your personal site. With a professional homepage you can easily place free classifieds that direct people to your website, too. Take the time to register your site with Google Local or Local Yahoo so that when people in your area search for your services you are more likely to pop up high on the list.

When you inspect a home you will provide the potential buyer with a packet of materials certifying your work and listing anything that you find wrong with the house. Make sure that everything you hand the buyer has your name, web address, logo and contact information printed on it. One of the best ways to promote yourself is by word of mouth. Do an exceptional job every time and make sure your clients know who you are. If they are happy with your work, they are more likely to tell others about you or promote you to the realtor that they are working with. Include extra business cards in their packet in case they would like to give them out to anyone they know.
