Congratulations, your eBay business is doing great and you are thinking of expanding your market reach.
But how do you know when the timing is right? There is a fine balance involved in expanding any business. Think of it as supply and demand as it applies to your time. When you are at a point where you are turning down opportunities because you are unable to find time in your schedule to accommodate them, it is probably time to grow.
How do you expand operations and profits without taking on an additional workload? By adding additional employees, of course. You will increase the supply and personnel to meet the demand.
Begin by evaluating the amount of time you spend "at work" even if you are working from home. Is this a reasonable amount of time considering your income? How much more business could you do if you had an extra set of hands? When your business has reached a point where the amount of work available far exceeds the amount of time you have, it is time to think about expanding.
Online based businesses have the benefit of not always needing additional office space. When considering the addition of employees you should think about what parts of your business you are willing to delegate. A general administrative assistant can handle correspondence, marketing, and some bookkeeping from their own home. You may also want to hire buyers who work from home and get an hourly rate or a commission.
Expand Your Space
If you prefer an environment where you can keep a close eye on your subordinates, you may want to investigate renting an office space. Think about where you want to go with your company and what the budget will be for the expansion. Remember that in addition to monthly rent, you will need additional computers, phone lines, and Internet access.

Yes! I want to learn how people are making five- and six-figure incomes using eBay.Adding Nooks and Crannies ... and a warehouse, if necessary
With an eBay business you will probably want sufficient space to store your inventory as well. Warehouse space may be your best bet as it is unlikely that you will need an appealing storefront unless you plan to offer your items for sale to walk-ins. In that case you should investigate space in strip malls where you will have higher visibility and weigh the anticipated income from walk-in sales against the additional rent of storefront space.
The important thing is to not bite off more than you can chew. Expand slowly to stay within your means. As your additional staff and space gain you more income you can continue to expand at a rate that doesn't strain your finances.
